Contact center slowdown

Recent developments in the Philippine contact center industry has been discouraging.

According to reliable sources, major multinational players have stopped hiring customer service agents in the meantime due to over-hiring.

In fact, some have started to shed off excess manpower.

The U.S. economy downturn badly affected the Philippine contact center industry. Obviously, the contact center sector needs to diversify its client base to lessen dependence on U.S. customers.

The sector needs to acquire more clients from Japan and Europe. Although client diversification requires multi-lingual agents that the Philippines sorely lacks.

But all is not lost!

Another sector in the outsourcing/offshoring industry is picking up the slack.
